UFC 230 Occurs on Saturday, November 3, 2018 in Madison Square Garden in New York, New York.
Heavyweight winner Daniel Cormier (21-1, 1 NC, 10 KOs, 4 SUBs) will defend his title against knockout artist Derrick Lewis (21-5, 18 KOs, 1 SUBs). The card airs live on 10pm ET that is starting.
Just one pay-per-view following the Khabib-McGregor superfight, the UFC is providing us a heavyweight title game. Plus it just so happens to feature among UFC 229’s breakout star:”The Dark Beast” himself, Derrick Lewis. It is one thing to score a dramatic, last-second comeback win in a battle you were becoming dominated. However, Lewis topped that by following this up with the funniest post-fight interview in UFC history, on the biggest night in UFC history.
That’s 1 way of becoming a star. And now, the one-dimensional knockout artist that never actually seemed like a legitimate competitor is fighting to get the name under a month after having a beating in the hands of Alexander Volkov. Daniel Cormier’s probably drooling at the thought of an easy paycheck. It’ll also be his first heavyweight title defense.
Regardless of the UFC announcing a banger of a scrap between middleweight hulks Yoel Romero and Paulo Costa, the massive Cuban has said that the fight won’t be happening. Though we hope this contest happens, we tend to trust that the fighter when they stated that they’re not prepared. Let’s hope he heals up punctually.
If those 185-pounders don’t get it on, there are still three crazy good middleweight matchups to look forward to. The largest of these is that a rematch between former winners Luke Rockhold and Chris Weidman, respectively ranked No. 2 and No. 3. Perennial contender Ronaldo”Jacare” Souza meets former WSOF champ David Branch, with both men jockeying for a name position. The branch’s most fascinating prospect, Israel Adesanya, sets his undefeated record on the line against No. 6 Derek Brunson. At times,”The previous Stylebender” resembles the second coming of a prime Anderson Silva, and everyone is hoping that this dude is for real.

UFC 230 Betting Lines, Predictions and Picks
Here’s a weird story. In an interview with MMAJunkie just days after the Volkov struggle, Lewis came out and stated that he had no desire to headline UFC 230. That he had already begun eating breakfast snacks and also his cardio was nowhere near the level it had to be in to realistically challenge for the name.
He ended that interview by saying that it would take a giant paycheck to allow him to jump right into a title fight with one of the best to ever do it. Later that day, Dana White announced that Lewis would be battling for the title. Seems like someone got PAID.
Still, the UFC’s greed is revealing here. Lewis was nearly finished multiple occasions, and it was apparent he couldn’t last five rounds. The UFC is placing him onto a card under a month later? That is called exploiting a celebrity turn. And while we love how honorable DC is, it sure sounds like he is cherry picking here.
The previous time Weidman and Rockhold fulfilled, the AKA surfer boy cracked the prior All-American wrestler and took the belt from him. Time has not softened the grudge between them both, and it was a close fight up until there. Rockhold has been pumped out two, suggesting that his chin is a severe weakness. Coincidentally, Weidman suffered two brutal knockouts as well before rebounding back against Kelvin Gastelum.
Both these middleweights are good everywhere, though they have different approaches in each stage. Rockhold’s submission grappling is top notch, but Weidman is a stellar traditional wrestler. Weidman can box with all the very best of these, but Luke’s unorthodox kicks can do major harm.
Ronaldo Souza can’t seem to catch a break. One of the most accomplished BJJ artists to ever enter the octagon, he has been in multiple title eliminators, only to fall short in every one. Beating David Branch probably would not seal the deal, but he can keep his title on a short list of worthy challengers. Branch could vault into the title mix by simply taking out the well-regarded Brazilian.
Israel Adesanya has everything it takes to be a star: an engaging character and more importantly, an electric fighting style. He’s obviously a exceptional striker, landing all of eight limbs with exceptional accuracy and power. Obviously, like all fantastic standup artists, he’s got to pass on the wrestler evaluation, and Derek Brunson – a former collegiate wrestler – is much more than qualified to dish that out.
